SUMMARY:
This year saw the re-introduction of the HYC Spring Regatta, on the 125th anniversary of its first running, in 1884. Two divisions (Beneteau 36.7 and J/24) were registered, although the B-36.7's had minimal attendance.
The J/24's, however, had 6 boats and got in three races on Saturday, and another three on Sunday. First place, and the 2009 Director's Prize was awarded to Paul Beaudin, who skippered Express to a perfect first place finish with five bullets. Paul: "We had a great regatta this weekend. All the top boats were there to make for some tight racing. We seemed to have an extra gear on Express along with some great luck hitting the shifts. Both Surcease and Jeepers were fighting hard to get by us and we had several lead changes. We had all we could do to finish first, but the crew help to keep me out of too much trouble. The Express crew was Italo Morelli, Jeff Goldfarb, Jim Tourgee, Tom Peirsel, and Anthony Farrar."
